This content was produced as promotional material for a racetrack, Circuit If The Americas (COTA), in Texas. COTA is a popular track which sees annual events from many different racing disciplines including F1, MotoGP, MotoAmerica, NASCAR, and others. The artifact demonstrates my ability to utilize genre and stereotypes to produce predictable but impactful graphic resources. It was developed with both my personal experience with the genre as well as online research of comparable works.
This demonstrated a critical evaluation of genre within a visual medium.
The motorcycling community has many themes that run throughout different disciplines. All motorcyclists love action and intensity. I tried to leverage these stereotypes in my placement and design decisions by creating tension between different rider positions. I also leverage stereotypical American objects like a bull to play on a standard element of MotoGP advertising which includes positive stereotypes of the nations which they visit.
Consistency of messaging was achieved by ensuring that every element of the composite was either related to American stereotypes or COTA itself. Elements such as the flag, the bull, and the COTA tower create a consistent theme across the graphic.
This artifact is entirely visual and does not include any writing. Despite this, it was prepared with rhetorical knowledge, critical analysis, research, and modern technology. All of these skills are components of Technical Writing.
