I iteratively refined prompts to produce desired outputs from an artificial intelligence tool. This process demonstrates an ability to leverage modern tools to improve efficiency and accuracy of outcomes. Successfully employing AI generated art into professional projects requires an awareness of genre and crosses into visual methods of technical communication.

While the skills demonstrated by this image generation were mostly technical, it raises important legal and ethical questions regarding copyright and dissemination of the finished works. Generative Artificial Intelligence, or GenAI, is a rapidly evolving field with many unknowns. In a professional context, it is best to operate with caution when leveraging GenAI for anything from efficiency boosts to finished works.

I copied my prompts into a separate document along with the resulting images to notice patterns across pairs of prompts and results. This allowed me to narrow my focus and create exactly what I wanted by keeping elements that were desired while removing elements that were not working. The nice thing about generative artificial intelligence is that it is very consistent and works on patterns. These are important concepts in designing detailed prompts.

These skills are applicable because GenAI artwork can be integrated into many projects. It is sometimes difficult to find images which reflect exactly what you want and GenAI can step in as a tool to resolve that concern. By generating detailed and often lengthy prompts, artwork can be created to fit within a piece by matching genre and other stylistic choices.

The use of generative artificial intelligence in any pursuit is an important area of ethical discovery in today’s professional and educational climates. Depending on the context, it can be important to disclose that a product or detail within a product was generated by artificial intelligence. In the case of this project, GenAI was specifically required. In a professional context, I would disclose use of artificial intelligence unless the content was not present in the results presented to the client.
