In this artifact, I break down a news article about an archaeological discovery of sacrificial pits containing horses in a bronze age Chinese city. I address the basic tenants of a scientific claim such as who is making a claim, what the claim is, what scientific justification the claimant employs in their justification, and whether this information is sufficient to justify the claim.

By going through this exercise, I demonstrate an understanding of technical communication in the context of archaeological research with the review of tenants such as audience, message, and medium. Along with the development of rhetorical knowledge, this artifact demonstrates critical thinking, research, and analysis skills related to identifying tenants of technical communication in a scholarly context.
